    Default Snapped tensioner bolt, help :(

    My mum has a 53 2.2 DTI vectra and i investigated the problems it has and found the lower AUX tensioner bolt was loose i thought i could just screw it back in but no it had sheered off :/





    any help ?

    Cant drill it without dropping engine as chassis legs in way.

    i think its part the bracket which holds aircon pump in place take it of and drill it out alot of messing but needs doing.

    the only other option is to put a shorter bolt in and thread lock it

    no chance of that mate there is no thread for it to screw in the old one is in the way

    Even if you could drill it out it would be a pig of a job to do without damaging the thread.

    Try soaking it with WD40 and then putting two nuts on it and tightening them up against eachother and see if you can move it and try to take it out.

    Other then that its getting some heat on it so you can loosen it and get it out so you can put a new one back in

    its snapped off in the hole on the 2nd pic, the first pic is what has come out, if you cant put a shorter bolt in then you'll have to drop the air con pump and bracket, drill it and helicoil it back to the original thread.

    Hopefully if i can get the bracket off i can drill it and get a set of stud extractors on it.

    Going to get it in my garage up on some ramps tomorrow and hope i can get the bracket off.

    the bracket will come of quite easy then just drill it mate or try and get a secound hand bracket.
