Car n Spanner light - Bite the bullet

Hi

Sorry i know there are countless threads on this but i've given up trying to find out whats causing it, tried cleaning EGR and boost valve, changed boost pipes, done air box mod, allsorts and nothing has made any significant improvements, the only thing that made a noticeable difference is when i blanked the EGR n the car n spanner light swapped for the engine management light, so...

do i really have to go to vx to find out what code is being thrown up and spend £45? is the tech 2 thingy the only thing that can read these car n spanner light codes? could a normal garage or mobile mechanic do it? whats this OpCom thing ive read about?

it doesn't work on most vehicles. search ebay and get an OBDII reader, then search for the code on here.

No idea but it will probably lead you to really screw your car up

thats the kinda thing i need to know, see i woulda got that, plugged it straight in and made an even big a mess of things.

i know nothing about these things but what i do know is that i really don't want to pay vx £45 to be told we don't know what it is and they need to keep my car n charge me more money (no faith in vx)

if you just want a code reader go to ebay and look for u480 i have one as do some others on here and there ok for what they do and you pay.
