Depends on what is at fault, best bet it to get fault codes read. When my 2.0T was doing it, it turned out to be a faulty crankshaft position sensor

I have similar symptoms. cold engine starts just fine but when itīs warm and wait about half an hour after stopping it has to be cranked several second to get it fire up. It seems to help if you press the gas pedal while cranking. If you donīt press the pedal it takes longer and wont run smoothly unless you donīt press the pedal after start up. Also after start up there is no any problems and the engine works fine.

No fault codes. Air/fuel filter replaced. coil pack and spark plugs replaced. temp gauge seems to work ok. And fuel pump seems to be working a while after ignition on.
Would the crank sensor give a code if fails in that situation?
I was thinking throttle body clean up next. Or temp sensors as there seems to be one attach to radiator and another one on the thermostat housing.

sounds simialr ot an issue i had on my vxr, would start first tim everytime when cold, but start it up after a few minutes of it been turn off from cold( like popping into the shops kinda time scale) and all it would do would crank, leave it 20 minutes and it would act as there was nothing wrong, replaced the crank sensor as noticed when it was cranking whne hot it wasn;t giving a rpm signal( clocks just read zero) so swapped the crank sensor out and its never missed a beat since

interesting. So think it reads the revs from camshaft in case the crank sensor fails and therefore takes more time to fire up.
I need to check that in first place. Thanks.

My 2007 1.8 had a similar fault, difficult to start when hot & no EML or codes, & the above sensor mounted on the rear of the plastic thermostat housing, was a complete cure.
I believe if the Crank or Cam sensor fails, you WILL get a EML & code. If the Cambelt is floppy & loose - you will get a EML meaning Cam & Crank signals are out of range, or similar. Fix this one urgently!

If you have the earlier 1.8 Veccy, I believe the temp sensor is within the Stat housing, mounted on the OS front of the engine, just above the exhaust manifold - This one:

you are right. I also checked engine revs with opcom and was present during cranking all the time when it did not fire up for next 5 sec. I'll replace the sensor next.

I had the same problem with a Toyota Celica, would start fine from cold every time, would start hot, but warm from a short trip no way. I was told there was a 5th injector equivalent to the choke on a craburettor car could be blocked or dirty. I ran 50/50 redex and fuel for a couple of days, cured it. may have just been dumb luck as all the suggestions above look good.
