Default Anyone ever changed there Dual Mass Flywheel

Right guys my flywheel is starting to make some random rattleing so it needs replacing. Its a 1.9 cdti 150 f40 box

Gonna do it myself but wondering before i start if there are any how to guides or hints/tips i should know about.

Dont see it being much different to when i replced my 2.6 v6 flywheel but you never know.

Few questions that come to mind straight away.

1 - Do i need to drop the sub frame to get the box out.
2 - Do the drive shafts just knock out.
3 - How does the gear linkage come out
4 - Do i need anythign else - Flywheel, 3 part clutch kit inc plate, cover and slave. Clutch alignment tool.

Got a haynes but they always go the long way around lol.

You may need oil seal behind the gearbox, mine was leaking when i changed mine apart from that if you have done a v6 one you should fly through this.

had to take gear linkage out on mine, i dont think i dropped the sub frame enough.

    sub frame dropped

1.No, not completely, undo all the bolts on the nearside and just slack the offside, be careful of the rack dropping too far where it goes the the floor else you'll knacker the clock spring.
    2. Yes might need some persuasion though.
    3. 3 or 4 e12 bolts then wiggle it out.
    4. Flywheel Bolts, It'll say on the box of the clutch you need a special fitting tool but you dont, its a self adjusting clutch, it'll sort itself out.
Hope this helps and good luck, the starter motor is about the most awkward bit to do, just lie accross the rocker cover and dangle yours arms down the back of the block and you'll be alright.

Nice one gents. Should i undo the steering linkage via the bolt inside the car so i can slide the rack off the steering column or is that agro i can avoid.

Also on the pic above. how come you have taken the drive shaft out of the wheel and box side. Cant i just undo the drop link and bottom ball joint and push the suspension out the way.

O and any more pics you can post would be cool. Any pics at all so i can see the bits and bobs around the box.
