friend of mine went away for a week and he took a reading of his milage on his car and reset the o meter before they went away,

why him and his family were away his sister boyfriend was looking after the house so there was only the boyfriend looking after the house because the sister was on a girls holiday,


they got back at 4am this morning and his younger brother says to my mate your cars seems to close to the wall so he checked it and the bastrad had done 2.5 miles in his car hes 17 with no licence and he would of had no insurance my mate is livid, ive told him to report him to the police but will they say where is the proof?

Sadly I think that is exactly what they will say however they may just, take it seriously enough to go the put the frighteners on him as the Milo- does provide evidence of movement in some way

they will need to prove beyond resonable doubt that he has indeed driven the car - so forensic evidence would be needed unless an independant witness would come forward - can you hand on heart say that your local constabulary will be spending any of there hard earned budget on this

if it was me i would be having a very serious word in his shell like

and also be learning that he can never be trusted and the next time i go away i would immobilise the vehicle with a lock of some type - or take the keys with me - and wouldnt be letting him in my house ever again

yea ive told him to ask the people in his street if they saw anythin , its only a matter of time m8 before we have him we no hes dodgy because ive been on his facebook and hes been doing phone4u scams (fraud) so were waiting for him

Finger-printing a car isn't horrendously expensive - it's something that's "every day" where I work, and is handled in-house - it doesn't require expensive labs etc.

Still, all it proves is that he was inside the vehicle at some point, so a witness who can state that he was "driving" is far better.

thing is tho, he was the only persaon who had a key for the house, the car keys were in the house the cars got 2.5 miles so its been moved, so hes defo drove it, but he does need proof

it may be every day where you are - but dependant on your soco team and there commitments this would not be at the top of the list of priorities - then theres the surface contact within the vehicle = there going to be sufficient flat surfaces that would show he has been in the car - my favorite would be that he has hopefully adjusted the rear view mirror

but again it only proves he has been inside the car and not to driving it - hence why i said they wouldnt be interested without an independant witness to back up the TWOC - i wasnt really disputing the soco cost but the overall costs to try and obtain a conviction =proved beyond reasonable doubt (soco police cps magistrates witnesses etc) - looking at the overall picture - i cant see any force doing much without an independant witness

but it looks like theres more than one way to skin a cat and that his other "ventures" may be more than enough to secure a conviction for fraud
