Default Front Spring - How Easy to replace ?

I have a 2003 2.0 Dti which has a front nearside spring which I think is broken. How easy (or difficult) is it to replace and do I need any specialist tools ? Is eBay the best place to get a replacement ?

I am a fairly good DIY mechanic and do all my own repairs (usually).

    Thanks

you will need some spring compression tools to remove the old spring from the strut and then compress the new one for fitting as well - some local motor factors sell them /hire them out

or maybe a local garage for a nominal fee will remove and fit the new spring onto the strut if you take the parts into them

it can be done at home and if your changing one - its an ideal time to "upgrade" to a better set (eibach or similar) thats cheaper than vx's and will have a longer warranty and give a better ride

    Default Springs

Thanks for the advice but the offside one was changed end May so I will just replace this one. Local garage quoted £89 so will have it done there.

I was under the impression that they should be changed as a set (per axle)

    Exclamation Felixx.

Is there a difference in the spring type between the 120 and the 150 BHP models? or is it a standard/standard type spring? Felixx.
