    Default K&N

Is a K&N filter really worth the extra, have already done the airbox mod, and didnt really notice any difference....

Is the K&N Noticable?(if so what)?

    Thanks.

You will only notice a difference if the original one hasn't been changed since the car was new.

Diesel engines are 'excess air' engines, and so for 99% of your driving the mixture is always 'weak' anyway. Only at full load and full throttle will the extra air the K&N provides (if any) be of any benefit.

I noticed a difference in mine after the re-map and air box being deristricted. Not much in the way of power, but it was smoother and I think the turbocharger was less laggy and stayed on song higher up the rev range. No dramtic stop in power at higher revs. For £50 I was happy and would do it again.

I had a brand new standard filter fitted and then fitted the K&N panel one. I did notice a smoothness in the rev range once the K&N was fitted. No increased power I could determine but the turbo made a nicer spool up noise. Two years on now and just doing my first clean of the K&N. It was pretty well caked up. The standard filter is back on until the K&N is dried and re-oiled.

Never really thought much of filters that you can see clear daylight through when you hold them up to the sunlight!

mine seemed to pull more smoothly and easyer after i had fitted it but dont know if that was a placebo effect, only was to ever know would be to run with paper filter, then with K&N on a rolling road

I would say do it anyway, as i you dont feel anything different, you will still never have to buy a new air filter again

Already tried running 6,000 mile filter, new filter, K&N filter and even no filter on a Subaru Imprezza WRX (bro's). ****** all difference between each one! And that's on a petrol engine!

Just be sure not to over oil it or you may have to folk out for a new MAF sensor after first of all spending many thousands of miles wondering why it aint going so well.
