    Default cdti 1.9 cutting out any ideas?

    hi my cdti 1.9 has developed an annoying problem, i have done a proper refurb of the EGR and cleaned the boost sensor and done the 3rd injector wire and replaced the actuator vacuum hoses. but i keep getting this horrible missfire, most noticable if cruising at about 1200rpm in 6th and i put my foot down, the enginge judders the limp home light comes on and the engine cuts out, but restarts when turning on and off! the car should be ok cruising in this gear at this speed and it was more than happy before, but something has gone wrong it, not read the fault code yet. i am guessing that it is something to do with the tourque and that is why it only happens in 6th because it is fine in all the other gears and pulls ok through the gears. i wonder if it is the EGR just given up the ghost! oh yeah swirl flaps and bars are all ok too. any ideas?

    Out of curiousity check injector plug 4, I had my injector loom changed on injector 3, but number 4 injector loom is a bit dirty and I have an occasional misfire anywhere in the rev range.

    blank the egr and then you'll know for sure

    Gazza thought of that, i gave all the connectors i could see a good spray with contact cleaner but no difference. it odd cause it is intermitant and the power is ok else where! i'll try and eliminate the EGR does it make a difference being blanked of at higher revs? or just low? i already have some reducing gaskets that i made in either side of the EGR.

    Given the 1.9s now lengendary lack of grunt below 1500 rpm, it's hardly surprising that putting your foot down at 1200 rpm in 6th is just going to excaberate that.

    Not great for the DMF either, that gets worked hard under those conditions.

    If you blank the EGR and note a noticeable improvement, it probably means that the EGR valve was stuck slightly open when it should have been fully closing.

    EGR valve is mostly active under part throttle conditions. Prodding the loud pedal slightly should fully close it immediately.

    Ahh! I have almost identical problem. 1.9 CTDI 150. cuts out when at low revs. If you try cranking the engine on the starter it wont restart. I have to turn the ignition off and back on to restart it. Currently it is back at the dealers where I bought from from because It cut out and wont restart. it will fire but immediately cuts out again (it did the same on the day I collected it, but ran fine after putting more fuel in it.) If it helps anyone help me, the error codes are injector 1,2,3,4, high.
    I have had this car for about five weeks only use it at the weekends do about 100 miles a week. its been back three times now. To be fair to the Dealer they have been really good to me and have exceeded my expectations. But I now regret buying this car and have lost faith in it. boo hoo my pride and joy has turned into a millstone in just a few weeks.

    Just a thought. check out the clean and fix throttle body-cdti150 in the how2 section.
