    Default Power over ability

All of my life it seems I see and witness the same things people crave power in a car to go faster than the next guy out drag him out accelerate overtake.

BUT!!!!!!! where do we all stand on ability, I find it far more gratifying if I can out think and out "drive" some impatient ******* by using the power whatever car I am driving happens to have, first an example to set the scene,

M11 from Jct 7 then M25 almost to the A1010 cut.

I was driving a Kia Piccanto 1.1, my impatient padwan was in a TT 2.0 TFSi I was sitting in the flow of traffic if he got past my little silver biscuit tin he would have run into the backend of a Honda, so he wasn't going nowhere, so he then decides to try and undertake me so I use all the power the little Kia didn't have and started to drop back opening up about a 60 yard gap and holding him pinned in place, this works only as long as I have traffic flow moving at the same pace in all lanes, so as soon as I see the change coming I catch my opponent napping and close up the gap so he can pull to the middle and undertake me but cannot get past. And on and on,,,,,,,,,,
I managed this little bit of fun (well it was for me he was beetroot BTW) I was moving as fast as the flow would allow at 9am on the M11/M25 so you can get the picture I was not intentionally holding this muppet up. All the more fun when you pretend you aren't playing games and just driving, Ooohhh it makes them so MAD

So to the point of the post. I have owned some "very" rapid cars since passing my test in 1981 500+ HP V8 corvette's Trans Am's with Turbo's on'em etc but never get more satisfaction than when you slay a giant in a humble car.

Power corrupt's, absolute power corrupt's absolutely!

    Really?

Reading your words, it comes across as intentional to me.

If somebody wants to go faster than you, why not move left and allow them past, then move back out? It appears you had chance, as gaps were opening up, but you were deliberately matching your pace with other traffic, in order to block the vehicle behind you.

Of course it was intentional but I was not letting him know I was playing with him

I have no problem if anyone wants to go faster than me but as I was at the terminal speed for the road and no-one else could or resorted to undertaking to try and beat "everyone else" I was not holding anyone up. I just get narked when a muppet thinks he is more important than the rest of the populous, and resorts to very dangerous undertaking over three or four lanes just because he wants to be one car ahead of me, the next guy, the next guy etc.

We are all in a hurry, all have places to go, and at flow speeds of around 85mph (ish) at times demonstrate that point comprehensively I would think?

If I am wrong in my belief that my work and my task is as important not more important as those around me I apologise.

Yep and thats how accidents happen because he gets impatient takes a gamble and screws it up personally if I have someone up my arse and they want to gun it fine let him gets him out of my way and another idiot out of the way and lessens the risk of an accident involving me.

Maybe he was in a rush? Maybe a relation had just died? Maybe his kid was sick? You,ll never know. Does not justify his driving but I hate people that leave a gap I go to overtake and then they race you and won,t let you overtake. Whats the point?

Don,t want to seem to be having a go but just seems a little silly to me

See it daily. The way some people drive so they can save 5 seconds in a journey is a joke. The one that really bugs me is what I call the "3 lane switch". Its when drivers approaching a slip road stay in the outside lane of the M8, past the 300m, 200m and 100m markers then go from lane 2(we only have 2 lane motorways up here) straight in to the slip road. I must admit to playing a game with drivers like this too. I like to keep my eye on the rear view approaching slip roads and try to guess who looks like a likely candidate for the 3 lane switch, I then speed up a bit and try to keep them on the motorway.

and you wonder why accidents happen what difference does it make to you just let them be on their way and out the road

When you get cut up by these fools often enough it starts to annoy you a bit, well it does me anyway.

happens to me all the time when i'm at work cause our vans are all restricted to 60 but no point tryin to annoy other drivers by holding them up, that just causes road rage when there is no need for it.

I once had a 999cc Fiat Uno and was often prevented from overtaking cars by them deliberately speeding up to prevent me from doing so as I came alongside. Doesn't happen to me any more Ha ha .
