    Default cd70 problems

has any one encounted this problem when playing mp3's on the cd70 , they seem to work fine for a while but then i get cd error displayed and invalid disc

when i eject the disc it is very warm to touch, i have tried severall different types of disc and also severall different types of burning software and 2 separate cd burners

so the problem seems to be with the cd70, i do not get this with a standard media burnt disc however the disc still does get hot

Dirty laser head! Had this on mine... Cured it by cleaning the head by stripping it down and using a cotton bud with alcohol to clean it.. Been fine ever since

cd's get hot in all units!
Have you tried burning your mp3's a about 16x speed instead of full speed?
if you burn a disc at high speed the quality of the burn is decreased!
    just a thought thats all

The cd does spin round rather fast, so would imagine it would be warm to the touch once ejecting it. Plus warmth from the headunit itself would make it warm too. You can buy cd lens cleaners that have a special cd to clean the lens if you're not too keen on removing the headunit and taking it apart. But what plasma suggested would be more ideal if possible. Hopefully that'll cure your problem

Installed the CD70 with the CID screen, complete doddle, took a whole 5 minutes to do, much better sound than the old CD30, satnav is decent enough, finally have mpg data and all that. Today i had a drive to Lincolnshire, a whole 300 mile run and for that i burned an MP3 CD with some soft music. It played flawlessly all the way there, i could change tracks easily and never missed a tune during that near 2 hour run. On the way back, it didn't want to know. Invalid CD and CD error was all i got, didn't play a single track, in the end i just changed to Radio 2 and left it. I'm utterly disappointed with this and feel very, very tempted to sacrifice the satnat and install my old Alpine ipod player.
