    Default temp gauge fluxuation

    1.9cdti 150 sri.

just came back home after being on mway and happened to glance down while free wheeling upto a round about as in a very relaxed mood and temp was at 20 deg or so after just driving at 70mph seconds earlier. within 50 yards or so of normal driving again went back upto 80 which is normal for it.

tried a little test, ran car upto 50mph and freewheeled it and after maybe 10/15 secs the temp went down to about 20 again i assume may have went lower but had to put it in gear again. i assume the water can't physically cool this quick so perhaps the sensor is faulty or thermostat is goosed?

any tips on things to do guys or where i can check these things?

p.s i had the car in for a new aircon condenser last week at stealer-related to this perhaps? i.e broken something?

    cheers

    little update-

took the sensor connector off, cleaned and reconnected.

took the car for a drive and all was normal again. maybe not quite seated correctly with the dealers fitting my new condenser last week???

if it does go again i assume i will need the thermostat housing replaced?

    cheers

temp sensor is on the thermostat housing, which is under the vacuum pump. right hand side of engine as you look at it, near the big boost hose.
