    Default battery voltage

    hey guys could a couple of you guys do me a favour and run your car at idle and put all electrical loads on and tell what voltage your car charges at, just want more ammunition to take to garage on monday. Im 100% certain my alternator is dying. Its droppin below 12. Than thats with the battery light going out on the dash.

    yes, your alternator has gone. that's too low, and the battery light makes it a certainty. exactly what happened to mine recently.
    healthy alternator will show 13.8-14.8v at the battery when the engine is running.

    btw, mine is 13.8v with a brand new Denso 105A.

    I'd imagine those with the 140A bosch units will get higher readings.

    Anyone planning on taking the car on long journey this summer should carry out this simple voltage test. Turn on the blowers & headlights, and you'll see the voltage drop for a couple of seconds, but it should rise back up to where it was.
