Thread: limp mode on motorway driving.....driving me crazy!

    Default limp mode on motorway driving.....driving me crazy!

    round town the car drives perfect,nice and boostie but if you get in on the motorway and try to pick up speed about 3k-3500k revs in 4th or 5th the car just struggles to pull then goes bang in to limp mode, if i quikley turn the key off then back on limp mode goes and i have to keep the car about 60mph in low revs in 6th but it has no pull at all. then once off the motorway the car has no pull hardly and does not boost really at all.

    give it a few days tho and the boost comes back and it starts driving mint again........untill i go on the motorway and then the fun starts again

    no eml or spanner lights pop up.

    what could it be as its driving me bonkers, cheers

    Sounds like what I had turned out to be the Dpf didn't even come up with an error code they can be regend but we just poored carb cleaner in it an gave it a steam clean all fine now

    When it goes in to limp mode does the spanner light go on then mate...?

    no spanner light at all m8 ....even today's round town driving i can feel the boost has really layed off and the car feels sluggish and its very annoying to drive.

    nope, it wont have a DPF unless its an Estate, Signum or auto. I guess you checked all the vac hoses (small ones) that power the turbo actuator via the boost control valve on the front panel. One other thing to check, on my 120 the vac pump went kaput and was allowing oil into the thin vac pipe, effectively cutting off vacuum to the turbo actuator. Now the pump has been changed, turbo kicks in no problem, the brakes are better and she drives better than ever. Worth checking that there is a vacuum supply.

    checked both vac pipes and they are fine, how would i test the little boost controler valve on the front pannel?

    your better to check your vacuum pump to be honest, i did everything to find in the end the vacuum pump was at fault

    Mine did exactly the same whereby if I put my foot down in 5th it would go into limp mode...

    I had it tech 2'd at work and it was the turbo boost pressure sensor that was about £50.

    Been fine since.
