    Default Batteries

Hi guys, i have a had few problems with the running of my car, finally had the RAC out today and diagnosed the problem as the battery is ******ed. I need to know what the best battery for around £120ish to get that is suitable for the 2.2 dti.

    Thanks

Buy a new one from over the parts counter at your Vauxhall dealer. Not that expensive and will come with a 3 yr guarantee.

Not offhand, but it shouldn't be any more expensive than any other supplier.

Easiest thing to do is find your local dealers number and give them a quick call.

Dont mess about with a standard battery. Get an Optima gel battery. I have one from when I had a big audio set up, then used it as the main battery in my last car. They start at around £120 on ebay these days, i paid a lot more than that when I bought mine.

Sounds good, it has good starting power but not the same capacity as the gm battery. Does this make a difference?

Not sure about the capacity side of things but these gel batteries work differently to normal lead acid ones like the GM. These are very good "cranking" or starting batteries because they maintain high output a lot longer before falling off, where as a lead acid batteries drop away very sharply. The one I have I bought over 13 years ago. Spent 2 years in the boot as a second battery for my audio system, then went to under the bonnet of a couple of cars over the next 11 years. I only just removed it from under the bonnet of my Accord because I was scrapping the car. It has never ever failed to start any of my cars, Id defiantly recommend one.

I like the sound of it but im just worried about the capacity as i am running an amp but later will be adding more amps so will get a yellow top for that.
