Default 3.2 v6 gsi lacking in power

Got an 05 3.2 GSi with approx 53,000 miles on the clock and a problem seems to have crept up.
Car starts fine, idles fine but when you put your foot down to accelerate there just seems to be a lot of induction noise and not much go Driving the car with just light throttle is fine.
There are no warning lights on or spanners lighting up. I've changed the air filter and that seems to have made no difference.
    Any help much appreciated

Blocked main Cat? Its not monitored so can be removed and still pass MOT. Can you take it off and have a look?

    Thanks for the quick response
is it an easy enough job to patch up with a piece of pipe after removing the cat?
will it be really obvious once removed whether the cat is blocked?

just looked through the history of the car and the spark plugs haven't been changed. It's been to the dealers for everything and according to the service manual the plugs don't need doing till 80,000 miles or 8 years but if it stays dry I'll have a look at them this weekend.
    cheers

TBH mate I dont know how the Cat is fitted to the 3.2. A couple of members have done the mod with no problems as the pre cats do the MOT work fine on there own. Hopefully they might see this thread with a few pointers.

yep most would change the plugs more regularly to "optimise" performance

on the old 2.0 i used to change mine every other service

and my new 2.8 will be getting its second set in the next seven days and has under 30k on the clock
