    Default diesel performace

i know alot of people dont drive there car hard when starting from cold but i would like you replys:

Do diesel cars run better when engine is hot or do they just run the same as when there cold. I mean performace wise

because i do about 3 miles aday in my car just to work so the engine dont have time to warm up.

It is more to do with oil temp and flow when cold, getting good circulation into the Turbo is the important part so in this case using the best quality oil you can afford is going to be of a high benefit to your engine in the medium long term

I can tell you from the days of my old GTi Mk1 Golf that it took about 8 miles for the oil to reach only 50 degrees C (the point that it read from) in the late winter early spring and about 6 miles in the height of summer and diesels aren't that different

hope you give it a good thrashing now and again the oil burners dont like a lot of short trips.

Unless you travel alot when your not at work

I live about 2 miles from work but I need a decent fuel economy and power output for towing my caravan during the holiday season

Although you did say "not always" so i'll let you off
