    Angry Electric Tailgate Faulty????

Please help me, I have a 56 plate vectra design estate, and I am unlucky enough to have the optional extra of an electric tailgate.

Problem is, it won't close fully via button on the tail gate OR the key fob.

Its almost as though its sensing some kind of resistance, half way through its closing cycle......it just stops, waits approx 10 seconds, then opens fully again.

It has done this in the past and then somehow righted itself, but just lately, it ain't playing ball!!

Is there some kind of safety sensor on it, if so where??

Or does it need some tech 2 type intervention??

It opens fine, just as it should, I have checked for anything that may be in its way during closing.....in fact, i have emptied the boot completely.

    Its yankin me chain now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an 08 plate Elite with the same issue, (closes ½ way then stops) took it to the dealers when it did it for a full day, they spent an hour on it and asked me to book it in for a full day. Booked it in and they said it was fault free on the day! I know it was fault free it's intermittent and that's why I insisted they look at it before so they could see when it does it (only 3 days over the last year.) Any way that was two months ago and up to yesterday it has been OK but did it twice in the morning. Good luck and let me know how you get on.

    Nice one,
Its not the end of the world, in fact it nothing compared to the other problems i'm having. I just feel as though I'm doing it harm when I have to "force" it shut manually!!

Plus, when I press the remote to close it, I find myself standing , waiting, just to see if it actually closes itself!!!

ditto bafoo, my estate does the same from time to time. the safety sensor is the potentiometer attached to the side of the operating motor in the rear quarter, could be intermittant fault on that. I know what you mean about resistance when attempting the manual close and i found pushing it closed using short jerky pushes seems easier, no comments about short jerky pushes, LMAO

would that cause the intermittant issue matt? when mine does this about every two to three months i cant hear any motor ginding sound, it just stops, like it should when it encounters resistance, then will be fine for a couple of months.

I have this too from time to time, but just got a alot worse. I too stand watching it see if will close, son and I take bets on this usualy - sad but true!

I Also have other issues (DPF) and as can still close manually I will not be wasting time and money on it - other than occassional wd40 treatment.

Default 2008 Vectra Power Tailgate not closing properly

    Hi all,

My 2008 Elite has just started doing this . It stops about half way and all you can do is push it the rest of the way.

Has anybody managed to confidently identify the source of this issue please?

I have seen posts mentioning potentiometer problems / stripped gears etc, but despite the seemingly large number of people having this problem I have only seen one confirmed fix (and that was potentiometer)

I have a Warranty Direct policy on car which should cover this, but Warranty Direct suspect that their network of garages won't be able to diagnose this kind of fault. I'll give them a go but figured any other info I could supply might be useful!

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Many thanks,
    Dave

    Thanks for your quick response!

Is this something I could change myself (I'm a fairly technical type who can follow instructions), or something to be done at the garage?

Also, is p/n V0093190877 correct as I searched for this and couldn't find it

    Many thanks again
    Dave
