Default Black smoke from exhaust - YAHOO ANSWERS

    Hi
Im still having black smoke pump out when I move off from junctions etc.... I found this on YAHOO ANSWERS. What do you think.......

    QUESTION
Vectra 2.0 dti 2003 reg excessive black smoke from exhaust ?
i have had my car for about 1 year and up until 8 weeks ago all was well then suddenly it started to kick out excessive amounts of black smoke from the exhaust when hard revved or underload. i have tried everything by taking it to a vauxhall mechanic and it was put on the computer and found no faults. i have replaced the engine, airflow sensor, and turbo to no avail. i have spent s**tloads of money and still the problem is there , please can someone help me as i am at my wits end with it thankyou.

You really are'nt going to believe this but humour me. There is a fault on the vauxhalls that you are having that is caused by the brakelight switch going faulty, ask your vauxhall mechanic about it.

I'm an auto- electrician and have heard about this fault, only once but it is a rare fault that not a lot of people know about. Hope this helps.

What do you think? anyone else heard of this???

Have you checked the big hoses for splits or cracks, as this can cause black smoke when pulling away.

I dont have a great deal of smoke from my Signum as its fitted with a DPF, but I've had probelms with Limp Mode kicking in which has been diagnosed as the Throttle Body.

I've used Wynns EGR3, and I've just tried Forte Air Intake Cleaner to give it all a clean. Not sure if using something like this would help clear the smoke?

You should check your front OS tyre is correctly inflated. I have a mate who's a fully qualified "vehicular road contact management engineer" (tyre fitter).
He said that under inflated tyre's can cause the tyre's to overheat, the tyre smoke gets sucked into the engine and comes out of the exhaust!

Well actually thats a rough translation as he only know's the word "tyre's".

He's a genious though and uses different vocal tones to distinguish what he's talking about.
"Tyre's" in a low voice is very bad apparently
"Tyre's" in a high pitch means something good has happened
"Tyre's" with a pointy finger means "your brakes need replacing mate"
"Tyre's" in a slightly slurd voice means "can I have a pint of special brew please?".
