    Default Help needed!

I was driving home from work last night and for some reason after changing gear and reapplying the accelerator the engine electrics light came on and I lost all boost from the turbo. I pulled off the motorway and turned the car off. When I turned it back on the light went off but still no boost.

I got home and after an hour or so went for a spin... still no boost. Called out the AA who told me their computer can't read the spanner light codes but that it seemed to be a problem with the turbo.

Got in the car this morning to go to work and everything worked fine... boost kicked in at 2500rpm as usual. Three quarters of the way to work after changing gear... warning light and no boost!

    Any ideas?

the car will drive fine when cold as the vehicle has restricted power when cold - you should be able to read the code with the pedal test ... if it was a loose hose then you wouldnt have any power low down when pulling away (painfully slow until over 2.5k rpm )

    i suspect

either turbo solenoid valves (one on the turbo or under ecotec cover)

normally causes fault on higher gears at lower revs - cant boost

or the worst case scenario recirc bump valve may have a worn/torn diaphram

normally causes fault on lower gears at higher revs - loosing boost

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

Thanks for that... both time it's happened it's been going into 5th gear at low revs. Would point more to the turbo solenoid valves in that case. Only changed both of them approx 4 months ago

Quick update guys... had the codes read and it turns out it was the turbo boost valve... guess thats the same as the turbo solenoid valve?
