Thread: what can carburettor cleaner do?

    Default what can carburettor cleaner do?

    right ive brought some carburettor cleaner to do my egr valve tomorrow ill do boost sensor aswell, can i spray the carburettor cleaner to clean any other parts????

    also ive hurd that people have reved the car when the egr is off so the muck comes out of the manifold is this correct??

    Personally I spay it onto the egr valve and boost sensor when these parts are completely off of the engine - that way should there be any engine issues I can a bit of relief knowign that one of those parts are damaged.

    My reason for not spraying it into the manifold is it can dislodge the crud in there and this may block the manifold.

    As above with the tips for cleaning the EGR and boost sensor , also remove the manifold that the boost sensor sits in and clean the butterfly mechanism inside

    cheers mate i used that to clean the egr last time, what ill do is get some rag soke it in carb cleaner and try and clean out the manifold where the egr goes, do ya think that will be ok?? gonna get some of that 10k boost stuff i think

    if you use little as possbile you should be ok but I would watch what you do manifold side whatever you do as dislodging the rubbish in the manifold will cause headaches if it clogs it up.

    sod it ill just do egr and boot sensor because im one of these ill try and clean it and end up ****ing it up and then saying why did i touch it for, i think the manifold is best left alone lol

    i only do about 4 miles a day less than that prob so my car could prob do with a good blast at high revs to get rid of all the ****
