Would you class 92000 mls as high for a 1.9cdti 150?,What do you think or recommend to lengthen its life.

Wouldn't say that it is big neccesarily, but by far the best way to extend it's life is by giving it regular reduced interval oil changes with a quality fully synthetic oil and by using a decent quality filter element. That, making a couple of mod's on the egr and CCV system and avoiding over-stressing the motor when it is cold and it will double or treble that mileage with out breaking a sweat

I agree. These days i would not class 100k miles as "high".

Felix as Derek already stated regular reduced interval oil changes are a must.

    Thumbs up Felixx.

Thanks for your replies, but what do you reckon is the right mileage intervals and type of oil quality to use as we are now only "pottering around" and not in the motorway fast lane anymore.
The car was on the flexi service and had fully synthetic oil, now,as it only does a relatively small mileage between services, they have put Castrol 10w-40 in on the last service.Do you think this o.k. or should I go back to the fully sythetic type?.

If your only pottering about and doing a few thousand miles a year then 1 year service intervals will be fine. I do around 9-10k a year and always do oil and filter changes every 6 months. As for the 10/40 its 5/30 that's recommend, i doubt that the slightly thicker 10/40 will do any harm, maybe someone else will know about this.

Personally in mine I run 5W-40 fully synthetic or 5W-30 as our climate is quite stable to go with 5W-30 and it is more available.

The fully synth co-polymers handle the immense pressure and heat of the turbo better and the higher level of detegents hold the crud in suspension better without sludging up the sump and oilways, Vauxhall were far too short sighted in declaring 20K oil changes on the diesel and backtracked to 10K fairly soon after I believe.

    Exclamation Felixx.

From what you all have had to say,it seems that the 5w-30 fully synthetic is the one to go with. However, one item that was mentioned that interests me is the detergent factor.
Because of this point, does putting injector/engine cleaner addatives in with your fuel help or hinder and, until I get the oil changed to the fully synthetic type, would a cleaning addative help?.Felixx.

No one here can prove that injector/engine cleaner additives help or hinder but TBH their cost is negligible and IMO worth while doing.
Derek the VX website suggest 15K for the CDTI for an oil change but to me thats top end and for those that really dont care.
