    Default sticking egr?

    reading some posts about egr valves how do you know if its sticking? is there away of unsticking them ie putting a drop of oil on it?

    Usually if its sticking then the power drop can be intermittent, and the power may cut in harshly. You could also get some uneven running at low rpm as it could stick part open.

    You can unstick them by removing them, separating it and cleaning/lubricating.

    you know the plungers thing on then how easy is that ment to move last time i cleaned mine it was hard to move. I get that now and again were power will just be there and sometimes its **** like theres no boost

    The plunger in the solenoid side should move as free as a bird, the other side is a tad firmer, but shouldn't have any resistance.

    mine must be faulty. when i tried to move mive by hand it was kinda stiff and hard to move. Gonna give it another clean on my day off from work what kind lube should be used on it? should you able to move the plunger by hand: i couldnt before had to use somat hard with force

    Yeah definately, should be very easy to move, no force at all is needed.

    Just drown it in carb cleaner and WD40 - you probably need to separate the solenoid completely, its probably corroded inside.

    I have a 1.9cdti sri150 57 reg with absolutely no poke below 2000 revs, could it be the same problem/solution?

    how much is a new egr valve for a dti?
    And can a new one just be pluged in and away you go or does it have to be programmed to the car?

    a new EGR valve for a dti is around £215ish i think.

    Being a 57 plate its more than likely mate.
