    Default Alarm problem-06 vectra estate

    Help appreciated on this!
My alarm has been playing up. I get the safeguard warning and when set the alarm led flashes straight away to indicate a fault. I've tried disconnecting the battery to reset the system but the alarm goes off indiscriminately after locking-it could be 1 day or 30 mins.
It's tiresome and annoying the neighbours.
I'm getting it to a garage next week but wondered If I could take out fuses 21-ultrasonic sensor, and 23 glass sensor to stop the alarm going off.
I'm assuming it will stop the alarm working and consequently going off but could I still deadlock the car?
Is there anything else I needed to be aware of If I do this?
    Cheers.

Most probably it's the break glass wire at the rear end of the car that's causing the problem. By removing fuse 23 won't stop the alarm from being armed. All it will do it take the break glass wire out of the alarm circuit.

Ultimately if it is that that's causing the problem, you can either leave the fuse out or link the wires together to fool the alarm into thinking the glass hasn't been broken.

as above. Common problem with the estate. Don't remove no 21 as you'll still want the alarm to work if someone does break in.

Thanks guys. I'll run with 23 for a while to see If this stops the problem. If not, will the deadlock and immobiliser still work If I take out 21? No alarm may sound If broken in but this would be similar to my old astra. Thanks.

    Deadlock should still work.

The immobiliser is totally separate to the alarm system as all cars (in the UK anyway) now have immobilisers, but not all cars have alarms.

If it is your rear windows' alarm wires, here's how I got round it: "Check Safeguard" Message.

You can always lock the car without setting the alarm, but you also won't set the deadlocks either.

Reach in though the front passenger door or rear offside door and press the lock button on the drivers door and close the door behind you. That's the button by the elecy windows, not the pop up button at the top of the door card.

As mentioned though, the deadlocks won't be set.
The immobiliser will be armed as the ignition slot relies on seeing a transponder chip inside the key which then communicates with the ecu.

Thanks Dave - I'm doing something similar at the moment while I wait for the weekend. central locking the car then opening via the remote unit (which on my car just unlocks the driver door on the first press). I am then key locking the the driver door.
