    Default What HID Xenon kit??

Want to look at fitting better lights in my veccy and was looking at HIDs. Are these the same thing as xenons?

Anyone know a decent conversion kit that is compatible with the veccy and would convert the hi AND low beam lights?

Looked at the "how to" but I cant open the link for the group sale.

Got questions like - what wattage, what colour temp etc etc

Oh - and I want it to be road legal too.

hi mate, i went for hid's direct and i had 35w 6000k...well pleased with em, brilliant output, some folks prefer the 50w, it's down to personal choice, but generally the higher the kelvin number ,the bluer the light, i think 6000k is just right, nearly pure white with a very slight blue hint to em...really easy to fit too...hth

    55w 6000K

    Take a look at :

    http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/hid-con...its-p-445.html

That's pretty much what a lot of peeps on here have fitted. 35w kits are also available and give an excellent light (I have a 35w 6000k kit fitted to my preface 3.2 GSi).

If you should choose to order from HIDs Direct I believe you may get a discount if you order by phone and mention Vectra C.com

Other suppliers are available.... many are cheaper.... you get exactly what you pay for.

Cheers guys. What is the diff between the 35 and the 55w?

Read somewhere that these might cause an issue with the insuarance companies. Do I need to inform them?

You're not altering the structure of the vehicle, nor adding items likely to make the vehicle more attractive to thieves (ie flash wheels, spoilers, expensive ICE).
You are modifying a system but only to add a dealer available option (HIDs/Xenon headlamps are an option when buying a Vectra) and additionally you are increasing your night vision and conspicuity - safety improvement.

Entirely up to you but I wouldn't bother my insurer with it.

It's a modification to the original spec of the car. Chances are, buried away in the small print of the policy there might be something that says you're supposed to inform them.

I notified Direct Line, and also my current insurer - Tesco (yes, I know, basically the same insurance company). Made no difference to the premium and they just put a note on my file to say that I have HIDs fitted.

At the end of the day if an insurer can wangle out of a payout in the event of a claim they will do so and find the smallest thing to use against you.

btw, I got mine from HIDS4US
