    Default power tailgate & fuses

Ok. i no these are daft questions to those of you who have had veccy's for a long time, but here we go.
    1. is the tailgate supposed to power both up and down
    2. or just unlock on the button and be manually raised, then power all the way down on the button.
the reason i ask this is mine, is option 2. and reading the owners handbook i can't work out which is right.

secondly the fuse box's in the handbook it states 3. my estate only has 2, and the fuse's don't match what the handbook states, is there a haynes manual that show's the electrics better?

    any help welcome

on vehicles fitted with power tailgates, the tailgate should power up and down. press and RELEASE button three, the tailgate should unlock and power open, then press and HOLD button three till the tailgate has powered closed and locked, then release button three. it's essential that you keep holding button three till the tailgate closes fully and locks. also, once open, there should be a manual switch on the right hand side of the tailgate, near the latch, that you can press once and it should power down and close.

i thought there were three fuse boxes, one under the bonnet, one right hand side of dash (can be seen with drivers door open) and one in the rear quarter.

    thanks barney.
thats what i thought, it has been in the workshop for the last three day's being worked on still no joy, comes down ok, but will not go up under it's own steam.
they have changed the motor & cable, and both struts also checked the alignment of the tailgate in the bodyshop.
booked in again next friday, but they can't seem to solve the problem.
thankfully its being done under warranty

lucky warranty is covering it, those motors aint cheap. Sounds like a remote signalling error to me, i bet they will change the body control module next. Let me know the outcome, so i can add it to my little book of Vectra ailments , lmao..
