    Default Another SMD strip fitted...

    Leading on from this thread...

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=112369

Was going to fit my multiple SMD strips all along the skirts, irmy lip and rear. But after collecting them for weeks, non of them seem to be the same shade of white few have a light blue tint and i wanted pure white... Plus some of them where no longer flexible and had gone hard and cracked. IMO no one buy these type below if over 30cm... (30CM fine for footwells )

As most of them as most of them are useless ive put one to shine up the the front grills. Will have to see if its bright enough later (and not too tacky ) and will again come on with key fob lock/unlock and side light switch. But Ashtray switch overrides to turn it off when driving...

Will add some pics and a video later

Video looked rubbish, but the pics are with it fitted in the same place, shinning up from the bumper tray.... doesn't shine the irmy grill very well however, but better in real life a nice dull glow...

Had a play and moved the SMD's to the slam panel. so in the middle of each grill and facing towards the rad, rather then straight up...

Only problem is this way is its very open behind the passenger side front bumper, so it shines the floor up on that corner and looks odd...

Might have to keep playing with locations - on a positive note i def still want to do some kind of underground kit and a similar glow under the engine bay when the bonnet lifts only

isnt it illegal to display blue lights on your car? why not put some behind the irmscher etched out part so that the irmscher part lights up. might mean taking grill apart though.

    i like very much!

surely they arent actually blue and its just like a tint and cameras always make white look blue, taking pics of hids a case in point!

how have you wired them in??

i realli want a led undercar kit but its hard to source a good quality one from the nasty import stuff, i had two so far and both have broken

We had this problem in our trucks with a few drivers being pulled for showing blue lights in the winscreen but, apparently you are allowed blue facing front providing they do not flash but under no circumstances are you allowed blue to the rear... HTH

Dont really like the kits you can buy, there never long enough to run the full length of the skirts etc...

The thread in the 1st post shows how i wired everything, HTH

And they are a kind of LED off white, tiny hint of blue... But its just been removed now anyway and going to root through and dig out 2 of the whitest ones... Like the irmy grill idea tho too

Below i've also made a brace to fit another strip just above the slam panel facing up so will light the top grill better., and puttong one in the bottom so there easily removable, rather then just sticking to the cars panels...

Painted the braces in the top pic...

Second pic shows the radiator damage so might make a mesh guard

Bottom pics with them off and then on, Lower light is actually longer in lengh then the top although it doesn't look that way in the picture
