cigarette lighter help

hi folks, i need to wire in something, taking a feed from my front fag lighter, quick question(as i don't want to do it wrong), there's 2 wires coming from the lighter..1 black and 1 brown, do you know which is power and which is earth ...thanks

Black is ignition live
Brown is earth

And if you're still in any doubt, the body of the ciggy lighter is negative, and the centre pin is positive.

i'm wiring in a speed camera detector, gps one but don't want it plugged into the fag lighter with wire trailing everywhere , so i'm going to hide the wiri and feed it from underneath the lighter, i'm a bit ocd when it comes to the inside of the car ..haha

Cut the red wire ..... NO NO the blue one..... or was it the green one ?

You could do what i did on my last car, get an adaptor with 2 or 3 power sockets and wire this in while your at it... No need to be cutting wires of your future goodies... I just had the adaptor hiding under the ashtray area so everything was neatly hidden

I did mine and my tom-tom looks good to me.
