Default Test drove a Astra vxr ....

Had the GSi in for the mot and service today so I thought I test drive the astra vxr
The pull in it is very good when you plant the acellarator it pushes you back in your seat
It felt nicely planted on the road and the handling was good
It went through the revs very quickly and u can feel the speed it is doing as where the GSi seems to get to speed effortlessly the astra is more brutal
Being a 3 door and smaller than the vectra I thought it would feel smaller but it didn't
Got offered £2250 for mine, so £10750 to change
Am I gonna swap, was really tempted but ... No, I really want the vectra vxr and always have and i thought just have a go in the astra and see i might change my mind but having driven one of them IMO the vectra wins hands down
And after getting back in the GSi u just can't beat the v6 roar :-)

I went to try one, couldn't get in it as the roof is too low.

    lol... you are absolutely right.

I remember the VXR Track Day events where I got in the Astra with my Bell Helmet and had to fold the seat so far back I couldnt drive it. That sort of stopped it there and then really...

I can get my Bell Helmet into the Vectra no problem... as seen here

Yep mate it is and the astra vxr was a 57 plate and been sat in the forecourt months at 14000 which he said today was being reduced to 13000 today
The GSi flew threw the mot today and had it's sixth service today and doesn't proform badly for a six year old car

The other sales bloke I know said 3650 not so long ago when I asked him to check the GSi value
The sales chap has already rang me and said to come back and he ll get me a better deal so I know I could get it cheaper but would still say no
Just need to find a nice example of a Arden blue vectra vxr and I'll seriously think about letting the GSi go

the difference between the astra and vectra is huge just cant believe, nearly bought a vec vxr this week but when my mate who works for vauxhall checked it he wasnt happy with mileage didnt corespond with wear on steering wheel and gear knob wear, plus there was a issue with steering since then have been looking, cant find half decent one anywhere am thinking will never find one, my current vec is almost mint and no way would i settle for less with vxr

    No dont...

Once the novelty has worn off you will end up hating it if it isnt mint. Thats the one thing I like about mine, not a mark on it.. except stonechips on the front.. and I loved earning every one of them
