Don't! I did a little scratch on the rear drivers door and ended up striking through the lacquer. Its really really thin and not worth it if you hit colour. It would probably be better to use something like #83 with a compounding pad, but then it would need refining down after the compounding. If your looking for a better finish I always think a sealant works well on star silver, at the moment i'm using Zaino stuff.
It will work but as rushy said be careful.
If you do not know what your doing then leave it well alone! One strike through and its respray time.
