Question First Detailing, So here goes

Got my self hold of a Kestrel DAS6 DA Sander/polisher from work, first of all i used a 2000 Abralon Disk made from mirka to remove all scratches from the paintwork, i then went onto using some Farecla G10 fine liquid to buff back up a shine, then for the finishing product i used Farecla Wax Top and again buffed to a finish which can be seen in the pics, all comments appreciated good or bad, thanks

    Great job.

Its amazing the vast range of different detailing product available, & everyone has their own method. I wish it could be simple, so that I could do it, without taking the Open University Course 'Detailing 101'.

The most important factor in this whole 'detailing' game, is that 'you' are happy with the results.

Looking good, how long do you think you spent on each panel with the DA? I did mine with a 220 and meguirs 82 yesterday and either i didnt spend long enough on the panels (or my techniques rubbish!) or needed a polish with more cutting power!

hi johnynoi, i spent about 5 minutes sanding the panels down with the abralon disk, then spent aroun 10minutes on buffing each panel, but i did all the side of the car together, if u use a 2000 abralon disk then i would suggest using farecla g10 liquid and you will get a shine like mine

The Meguiars range are (usually) deminishing polishes so you really need to work them down for them to do their proper cutting work, but the 82 doesn't have much cut to it, so unless you are using a very hard pad, you aren't gonna remove all the marks on the car, Megs 83 might be a good option, or some of the Menz range (Powerfinish etc).

The 220 will need a good few passes to get the cut you are probably looking for with what you are using.
