service today, guess what had broken.....

Booked car in for 6th annual service today at stealers, i know, ikmow, but its on the same estate as my work and they are ok (ish)
so, quoted £206 plus i wanted aircon re-gassed £55 (kwik fit £49 so thought go for it).
Hour after dropping off i got the call,
good morning sir, got a few advisories, ok i thought...
your rear indicator bulb is blown, £1.56, ok i said
your rear wiper, could do with being changed, no thanks i said
o and erm your off side front SPRING has broken and we need to change both (agree) and that will be £406.00
I will call you back, i said

To be honest, i did not want to drive my car 20 miles home with a broken spring, as someone said at work, you have probably driven it 1k at least so far.
So, i called back and said yes, do it

When i picked it up the bill was £100 less than the original total , i was out of there as fast as i could

Would i have known a spring had gone?, no knocking, stearing problems.

yes take a while local taxi did it on the M3

you prob wouldnt have been able to tell it all depends where it snapped as however much broke off the front corner it would have just sat lower and possibly noticible with more body roll when cornering to the left hard.
i had a renault 19 with a front snapped spring couldnt tell at all but my old man had one go on his merc and the noise and knocking was unbelivibile!!
just have a quick check as well that they have replaced both as i have heard of garages only changing the broken one and charging for both!
