    Default 3.0 V6 cdti estate

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me pls, I have a need for an estate and must be automatic - diesel. After reading the many pages of issues with these - are most of the failure down to water from the cooler?

I have seen in an ad, a 3.0v6 elite estate auto, 60k. 2004 old shape. sensible money - hell of a lot of car. But as I am self employed i need it to go when I want, not be in the garage.

best left or best bought home?

I really would welcome any constructive comments.

Do you know if it has a full service history?

Yes, it has full history, firstly by the stealers and two independents.

I've never heard of that one; the usual problems are the fuel pump and DMF
Apart from that the usual Vectra issues

Find out if it has had any SCV replaced
Try to contact the previous owner and find out why it is for sale

A 2004, the services would be every 2 years
It may also be on ECOFlex, so check the service interval indicator to see when the next service is due

As you are self-employed and will require the car for business you have some options
The first is to add a third party warranty
The next is to take out contracts insurance (ie if the car fails and you can't get to work)

Finally, if you are going to be doing less than 20K miles a year then the car should be fine up to 100K miles
The cambelt will then be due (often unsettles the SCV)

Sorry, I should have made it clearer, the Auto box has the problem with coolant or water through a breather. Engines seem fine, what is an SCV?

SCV is the Suction Control Valve
There are two on the High Pressure Fuel Pump
Costs near on £1000 to replace them (£150 for the kit which includes two)

Thats the typical UK VX dealership quote (I asked recently and it was £965)
However if you want JUST the SCV replaced, then its £680
As discussed before, you can cut that cost further by finding a diesel specialist with experience of the Denso Fuel Pump
I found one and they quoted £650

I paid 240€ of labour for the whole field remedy 1957 which is the SCV replacement and EMS update. That was at an Opel dealer.

Actually I only wanted some advice on whether these are worth bothering with, its all well and good talking about some valve that may or not fail at some point in the future, you could apply that logic to anything - we live in the here and now......What happens in the future is something we cannot control.

SO getting back on subject do I buy a V6 vectra or not?
