Chaps.
So looking around - I see that the E36 M3 Beemer is now very cheap for the car that it is if you can get a good one.
So - anyone here any experience with the E36 M3.. Any major issues, things to look for etc etc?
Cheers Anthony

an example of what I am talking about:

All the usual stuff as on any older car but the two people i know who had this era m3 both had gearbox trouble, 1 went crunhie and one jammed in gear. Maybe nothing more than bad luck but according to the gearbox place who did the jammed in gear one it wasnt the first they had seen like that. I wouldnt bother with the smg box by the way, huge money when the go wrong. Double vanos units play up and the early water pump impeller's fall off but get a good one and they fly.
absolutely brutal ,
i test drove an m3 evo which comes without t/c and is 321 bhp
scared the life out of me it was unbvelievable performance
Sadly most of them have had the life kicked in, through and then out of them on almost every occasion I have seen so many "pretty" examples that are more a testimony to the panel beaters art than good ownership. The engines are quite block wise strong but technically fragile and again spares costs are stratospheric!
I was in ECP yesterday and a guy bought a pair of discs for a 95 model and paid out £178 for them with pads, nothing special just Pagid discs!
Someones been watching top gear
Great car, most been thrashed, various weaknesses but then what car does not?
Very cheap now and a lot of car for the money, just take your time and pick a good one but I,ve heard there are more probs with the Evo so I,d stay away from that as I know parts are a lot more expensive for that
Check this out , it may help http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar...1/?section=bad
