    Default Vectra 1.9 TDCI (150) SRI advice

    I am buying a Vectra 1.9 TDCI (150) 2004 with almost 6000 miles on the clock. I have had a bit of advice from forum members but would really like a list of all the things that often go wrong and anything I can do or change to avoid problems. I don't mind changing a part early if it is going to stop problems in the future.

    Make sure it has had the updated manifold and if not I would either get them to change it or get a guaruntee against it going wroing is it is not wear and tear but an updated manifold is required.

    Check that the 3rd injector loom has been done - to do this remove the engine cover and the 3rd injector from the cambelt/airbox side should be blue if not insist this is carried out as it can cause the car to shut down.

    If the car has a flat spot upto 2,000rpm, get them to change the EGR valve.

    If there is a rattle coming from the engine when the clutch pedal is pressed at biting point in neutral then the Dual Mass Flywheel is on its way out. Insist this is done if this symptom is present or walk as you could be looking at £800-1,500 bill.

    Sorry if it seems long but if you sort it out before buying then you should be fine.

    all of the above and make sure you aircon is working thats another big bill, sure it's not done 60,000 miles.

    Thanks for the advice, is there something about the water pump that I need to watch out for too?
