    Angry Denso alternator kaput... again

Failed first time at 50k miles, now again at 85k.
Got it repaired and that repaired one lasted about a year.

Going to bite the bullet and buy new alternator.
On "euro car parts" website there is a choice of different alternators for this car - a Bosch unit (expensive) and also a Lucas one.
Basically what I'm asking, has anyone here fitted the Bosch or the Lucas alternators to their car and has it been reliable?
The Denso unit is a piece of junk, I know that.
It is worth spending the extra cash to get something other than Denso.

    Cheers.

im in almost the same situation, tried to get the alternator out myself last night but failed, can't get to the electrical connectors from any angle with any tool i possess, haven't chosen a suitable replacement yet so be interesting to see what people recommend. my mechanic who is gonna have to do the job now says there are variations and depends what Denso model it is but i couldn't see any numbers on it for love nor money last night, just the word 'Denso'

Just got new one off ebay seller for 99 quid brand new unit (not reconditioned) -- a very good price deal I couldn't pass.
    Downside is... it's another Denso
hopefully the newer ones are better, should be.

By the way, have you tried following the alternator removal/fitting thread in the "how2" forum section, other people have found that helpful

would have preferred to fit the Bosch but at 400 quid it's a bit pricey
