For ignition live, you need to tap the correct wire from your radio to the black wire of the cigar lighter socket.

    From memory,
    Most aftermarket radios use

Yellow for battery live (red on the Vauxhall loom) - used for memory
Ignition live is red, (black on the Vauxhall loom).

I would strip about 10mm of insulation from the side of the black wire of the cigar lighter, then solder your radio's red to this, and then insulate either with heat shrink sleeving or decent PVC insulation tape.

Do NOT use the black wire on pin 11 of the big quadlock connector on the back of the radio, as this is not ignition live...it is the telemute wire!!

If you are being pedantic, then you could indeed put a fuse in-line, however this should not really be necessary as both the cig lighter / charge socket and the head-unit will have their own fuses.

You only need the live from the cig lighter (black)

The earth is already in the head-unit wiring loom (brown on Vauxhalls) pin 12 on quadlock.

You don't ever ground a live feed!!
That will blow your fuse / melt the wire or simply set fire to the wiring.

Unless of course you have a 1959 morris minor with dynamo and +ve ground rail

Cant you just pop to Halfords and buy an ISO connector for the stereo, then it will plug straight in?
Especially as you said you don't know too much about electrics!
