    Default Might be going.....

Ive been doing some thinking and the vec might have to go
My girlfriend is doing quite a few miles now shes back at work and the fuel consumption isnt great (changing from a diesel) so we might have to go back to a diesel.
Still need space that the vectra offers, just a diesel engine. I know i could swap for a cdti vec, but when i change my cars i like a complete change.
Anyone have ideas? I was thinking 4x4, X-trail or Rav4? Struggling to think of a saloon car, plus we need decent clearance as our drive is sloped, the vec just fits on (if driven on an angle).

    Advice please forum friends.

your only trouble with a 4x4's is the additional running costs and there not the most reliable of motors at the best of times..... nissan and toyota both have issues with the models you have listed. and possibly more issues than we have with the Veccys

sometimes your better off with the Devil you know ... and even though its going from petrol to diesel - its going to be a different drive and have a different character to your current Vx

so ... why not give Diesel a chance and then go from there, its tried and tested and you know it fits on the drive

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

yeah i understand what your saying. After going back to petrol from diesel i much prefer diesel and wouldnt want another petrol family car. My heart isnt set on a 4x4, i wouldnt mind a saloon, just one with a bit more ride height. The vec only just gets on if i drive on a certain way, otherwise the exhaust catches. Im in no rush to swap, just cant think of any cars i like at the moment.

The CRV has a decent engine and decent space, cheaper to run than the X-Trail too (father in law has just changed from a X-Trail to a CRV 07 (pre-facelift)).

good spec car, but i need a car with a higher floor clearance, and i bet the vrs isnt much differerent from the vec. I like the astra, but dont know if it would be big enough.

ive just traded my veccy in for a octavia vrs tdi 170bhp, superb car, very underrated, dont let the badge put you off, in fact they are getting more exclusive, people are trading bm's and audi's to get a vrs....
i don’t think that the ride height is that much different from a veccy, otherwise they are a superb car to drive with plenty of grunt and better spec than a sri, im well happy, cant see me changing the vrs for a few years, i mean what would i change to ? This has got everything i want.......
