Default Help pls - Petrol Flap stuck!

    Hi,
this has happened a few times before a while back, I have stopped to get Fuel & have been unable to open the flap, its as though the CL is on. the previous times it has happened I got home, parked in the drive & it was fine! (I put it down to the cold winter at the time), so back to the petrol station I went, but this time it will just not open. dont really want to force it, only other option is to call green flag ? any help would be appreciated !

Some cars have a manual over ride for the rod that locks into the latch on the inside of the flap....have a look in the boot on the O/S under the interior trim.

Just checking you're trying to open it right?

Mine does not open when just driver door is unlocked, I have to unlock all doors and the fuel cap unlocks too.

    Hi,

yes all doors & boot open ok, but not the flap will have a search for a manual over-ride, pretty sure my Vec-B did not have one, but that does not mean the C is the same!

On a Vectra open the boot and the driver's side cubbyhole, reach in right to the inside of he body panel and reach forward behind the bracketting.
The flap lock solenoid is held in place only by two plastic clips. I found it easiest to press the solenoid assembly slight toward the inside of the car, pull back on the whole solenoid while releasing the outer side clip. Once you feel that clear the solenoid, press the inner side clip all the ime pulling gently back on the solenoid. The solenoid complete with the lock pin should easily become free.

Not only useful to know how to 'manually' release the flap but also how to get to the solenoid/lock mechanism for maint/replacement.

Thank you Thank you Thank you ! solenoid is out & I dont have to walk miles tomorrow! the two clips seem to be "top and bottom - boot end" of the solenoid which runs horizontal (if that makes any sense!) & there is probably no need to pull out the inner boot trim, might post a few pics later if it helps others. once again, many thanks

On my preface GSi the clips are side-side, boot end. Yep, no need to take out any trim, just open the O/S cubbyhole.
