Default Vectra C 2.2DTR Electric problem

    Hello there,

First of all i'd like to introduce myself. i am Dennis , 23 years old , from Haarlem (in Holland, next to amsterdam)

I'm doing my best to write proper ennglish, but you might find some spelling errors

I couldnt find any good dutch forums for vectra-c cars so that's why i'm here.

I'm having problem's with my Vectra-C 2.2 DTR , 2003. In the past the spanning-with-car logo came up now and then , but after restarting the car the problem was gone, so i dindt think there was anything wrong. After that the warning sign showing a lightbulb came up now and then , but the lights were working fine. (all of them).. after a whiile this warning sign also diappeared..

since yesterday i'm having all this signs including a sign of power steering after starting my car.. i started driving.. withoutt power stearing , after a few minutes power steering was back on , but car went into limp mode.. Also dashboard lights stop working now and then... and final.. the battery sign is always on while driving..

The strange thing is.. Sometimes EVERYHING works just fine and the car doenst seem to have any problems.. it's really confusing..

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? (i don't have any equipment myself to test things myself, so i cant read-out error codes etc.)

    Thanks in advance !

hi and welcome to the forum = the first thing you can try to do is see if you can read the fault codes with the brake pedal

if you post up the faults recorded they may help point you in the right direction

make sure ignition is off press the brake and accelerator pedal keep them pressed turn the ignition on and count the flash (of the engine management light) ie 10 flashes = 0 so it just flashed 10 times 0 then it flashes six times 6 then flashes four times 4 then it flashes 5 times your code is 0645 then put a p in front so it would be p0645

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

Hello Dennis, you say that the battery light is on all of the time while driving, get the Alternator checked out as this would cause problems with the electrics.

The pedal trick to read the codes may not work on your dti as the trick doesn't seem to work on them

    thank you John,

is there a way to check this myself ? or is it better to bring it to Opel ?

(the alternator is like the dynamo .. right ?)

btw... the battery sign came up a little later (15 mins. approx.) then the rest of the error signs.

    Yeah thats right

With all the faults you've listed probably best to take it to an OPEL dealer to at least get the fault codes read and then go on from that

Well , The car is fixed Indeed the alternator was broken. They wanted to replace it for a new one .... €1015 euro for all of it , including tech2 readout and placing dynamo. little too much money if you ask me.. so i bought myself a used alternator for €100,- (with 41.000km driven) and they placed it for me! now in total i've paid €350.- for everything.. 1 third of they price they wanted me to pay

    Thanks for your support !

    Greets, Dennis
