Default speed/camera detectors ...whos's got them

    ok guys and gals,
i'm not looking for a sermon on i never speed and therefore neither should you from anyone
as from time to time we can all be caught out by a change in speed limit on an unfamilair road and you can guarantee that at that precise moment in time there will be a camera van /radar gun or roadside camera there to greet you

so what i would like to know is what devices do people have and use and there experiences with them based on for esample
    • subscription charges .. if any
    • ease of use
    • clarity of displays
    • sound quality
    • customer support
    • accesssories -flimsy /decent
    • wiring ...hard wired or charged ...how long does it last
etc so you get the general idea ...

i dont want anyone posting that they use hacked or pirated software(because we dont do that on here, and they will only get deleted) ...i'm only interested in legitimate over the counter items that people have purchased or recieved as a gift

so over to you for your expert reviews

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

Good morning Dez,I believe a speed camera detector is not legal,as for my self I have a Road Angel classic which is on constant loan to my son the database is on a GPS system so it is your your position relative to where the camera's are,as for my self I have a speed camers file on my TomTom,which again uses a GPS system,I use the file from Pocket GPS world which is second to none it covers every type of camera, the file is updated weekly the information coming from other members if you submit a new camera positon and it gets veryfied by another member also reporting it you get a free life time subscription [I have one].for me in my line of work it proves invaluble. As a seperate unit I would recomend a Road Angel unit.easy to install, they are both sound and vision, and you can update regular although you have to pay a yearly sub.

    Ive got this Dez http://shop.snooperdirect.com/product1400186.html

Its a good little thing with a £2 monthly charge which enables unlimited updates..

Only prob i have is that my car has the heat reflective windscreen on it which makes it a little harder for the satellites to be picked up..

My Navman warns of fiiixed cameras, think it's around £30 per year for the updates if you want to keep it current.
Was going to use a Road Angel satnav / warning system, but they won't work with 64bit pc systems, which mine is

i use an old snooper. it's the active type so it doesn't use gps but looks for radar/laser. could do with updating it to a newer gps and active one. wouldn't have just the passsive type. they are good though and mine has lasted for about 6 years so far. saved me at least 1 set of points too. so yeah, they get the thumbs up from me.

I use a garmin along with this camera database, http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/
Best £19 i ever spent, you can download an updated camera database every two weeks, and if like me you report a camera or location that nobody else has submitted you get free lifetime membership, it also has a superb POI database too, and you can download voice alerts for the database instead of a bleep or tone. Well worth a look

You need to get a garage door opener. Everyone knows where the fixed cameras are its the lazers that get you and mobile traps. The only guaranteed way to avoid them is to jam the signal. By the time the detectors have picked up the lazer you have already been caught. This is proven.
You need one of these http://www.speed-detectors.co.uk/cat...mer-p-161.html This together with a tomtom for fixed cameras is the only way not to get done. Im sure if you shop around you can get them a lot cheaper.

I have had a Road Angel for quite a few years & rate it very high. This together with a Garmin Nuvi 300 satnav.
I subscribe to Pocket GPS World

& like Governor, think the £19 for world wide downloads excellent value for money hth ………
