    Unhappy Electrical problem, please help!!!!!

Hi there, we have a vectra c, 1.8 club, which has developed an annoying electrical problem. At present stereo is in safe mode(we have tried all the ways to get this to work and it still says safe) The speedo doesn't register, on the dash a spanner warning light will come and go, when this isn't on engine management light comes on. This all happened when a new wash wipe was fitted, initially the electric windows didn't work, this was fixed by changing a fuse. We have tried to replace fuses but to be honest I think my partner has muddled them up or something!!! Does anybody have a copy of the fuse layout or any ideas on what to do? Other than that the car starts every time and runs well! PLEASE HELP!!!!

Sounds like you need to get it to the dealers to get them to read any fault codes stored by the car. If the engine electric / engine management lights are on, then it should store the fault code and the dealer can diagnose the fault and find out what the problem is. Sounds like a faulty cim or control unit. Putting the wrong fuse in won't cause any damage unless a higher rated fuse is put in place of a lower rated one, it can cause damage to the loom or other components as it'll damage the other components before blowing the fuse. Hope that helps!

thanks, we had thought the cim after reading a few other posts about electrical problems. It's just annoying that it was fine and then after a minor repair everything else flashed up!!

Could be the CIM but it looks more likely that you've got some fuses mixed up and put the wrong one in somewhere and it's blown.

I can take a copy of the fusebox layout with the different rated fuses if you like. PM me your email address and I'll send them over if you'd like, then you can check to see if you have the right fuses fitted

you say you fitted a new wash wipe arm .... was it the same specification as the initial one?? ie had the same two number sticker on it??
it sounds like the part is mismatched and as such may have caused other electrical gremlins... or possibly shorted something in the CIM module

i would look at that as the initial complaint was no wash wipe (what cuased this ?>?) and having "rectified" this more problems occurred

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven

Hi all, thanks for the replies. I have checked all fuses correspond with the diagram sent to me and hey presto, nearly everything works!! No more warning lights on dash and speedo etc working, just got to double check fuses for stereo as that is still in safe mode, but nearly there!!!!
