Default signum 2.2 petrol z22yh engine

Hi,just bought Signum with Z22YH engine with lumpy tickover and flatspot from tickover.I thought it had the older type EGR vavle on so I was going to block it off,but this type is a water cooled one and closes quiet nicely,I tried blocking the pipe to the inlet manifoldbut it ran like a bag of nails, its had all the normal things tried eg coil pk,plugs, timing chain, diagnostic test, just wondered if anybody else had cured the fault, all the best Salty12

yip what golfer said the fuel presure regulator is a common problem on the 2,2s and hp fuel pumps some times the fuel presure regs dont throw a fault code also make 100% sure the chain has not slipt a tooth or 2 as that can give the same symtoms, is the flaps ok have u tryd taking the throttle body off and giving it a good clean and in side the manifold with a rag as they can get vrey dirty and clog up

Hi,the fuel regulator looks to be new,do you know if there is an easy way to check the valve timing or have you got to strip everything down

Hi,its 72k but the mate I bought it off had new chain fitted by 2 VX guys 1000 miles ago to hopefully sort the problem because the chain was a bit noisy,I cant get in touch with my mate to ask them because he is on holiday. What I am not sure is have they just marked everything up and rebuilt it to those marks or would they have to use a special tool and everything would be spot on?

    Default tickover

Hi,just had the tickover raised to 950rpm and cleaned the inlet manifold out,it improved it greatly and runs fine when warm but still slight problem on warmup phase,so I think it may be the injector pattern not quite right, might try a bottle of injector clener but I am a bit cautous of sturing too much rubbish up,all the best Dave

Hi,the chain job was done by a couple of VX guys who know what they are doing and they said they replaced everthing,so I would thing they did.The tickover is done on the laptop,I saw him do it ,only took 5mins,I would think you could do it quite easily if you bought one of the OBD discs and linked to a laptop.
