what you looking to know mate? i've got 2 camcorders, one dv and one dvd i use in my media course and haven't had any bother with either.. this camera itself looks a good'n for what you are looking to use it for.. handy too with it using memory card rather than having to buy dv tapes or dvd's to record on.. had a look at its reviews there too and they all saying its a good buy - "A down to earth easy to use camcorder at a fantastic price.Even my 9 year old grandaughter can film and take pictures with ease"
and i'm sure with you being comp tech you'll be ok with the eventual putting together of the film on the software side.. i use final cut pro but if for something such as you will be filming windows movie maker or if you have a mac imovie will do the job..

    here's a review on youtube.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JgYcuR53u8 haven't watched it yet <<

hope i helped but i don't think i did haha... ahwel i just like to type lol..
