    Default can anyone suss out this one then ???

    i got a 2.0gls n reg vectra, ever since i got it when i accelarate it lumps slightly it ticks over and starts fine the lumpy bit seems to be worse when its hot.. a friend has a 1.8 ls and it seems to be a bit faster than mine ive had mine checked on a fault diagnosis machine and the cambelt and the airflow meter and all came up clear with no probs i put a new air filter and fuel filter still no change cant find any vacume leaks either ive tried injector cleaner still no change the only thing maybe i can put it down to is the plugs its got ngk"s fitted but they were new when i got the car a couple of months ago .. any ideas would be really appreciated maybe someones had the same trouble as me be glad for any input ...thanks..... vinny

    Lambda sensor


    The one in the exhaust, cant say it will def be it doing it, but I had a cavalier with the same issue and the best i could get from anyone was that, sold the car like it in the end, didn't fancy an expensive hunt the fault game, see if you can get one from a scrapper, if not a gen one might be chips cheap by now.

    i had a nightmare trying to get a lambda sensor from the scrappys for my n reg astra i assume the sensor is in the same place. ended up costing me 50 quid for a new one

    do you know where this sensor is located i cant find it in the manual and is there any way of testing it when its off
    ps thanks for your help people all this is a little frustrating

    The lambda sensor is usually on the exhaust by the engine on the down pipe...

    Much as Ed says, if you get under the car the sensor will be just forward of the cat, it just looks like a fitting with a two wire cap on, they are hard to get out without breaking so beware and prepared, you can get non vx ones cheaper, not sure how good they are though.

    Testing it is not really an option, tech 2 will say there's nothing wrong with it, but as you can appreciate all that exhaust gas building up on it will reduce it's ability to send the right signal back to the ECU.

    there is a special tool for it but a 14mm spanner works just as well!

    no not yet just paid my mechanic a visit and he said he checked all the sensors on his diagnosis machine and all r ok so now i am really stumped
