    Default DMF question

Just curious as to why there is such a variation in how lond dmf's seem to last?, with reports of some lasting only 27000 through to some going on beyond 100000 miles.

I've had my vec cdti now for a few months and it's now got 73000 on and its got no evidence in the service history of ever having the dmf replaced.

As yet (fingers crossed) i havn't got and strange noises or any signs that it's on the way out, i always start the car with the clutch depressed as advised on here and never leave my foot on the clutch once i've changed gear

So why are some failing so soon??

    Vehicle : Golf 7

    Trim : GTD

    Engine : 2.0 TDI 184PS

    Mileage : 40000

Mines has been doing it for 80k now and the noise has got worse. Personally I would say the way to keep them going - before physics takes over for the worst - is to start the engine with clutch pedal fully pressed down and not let the engine labour - otherwise it is just overstressing the flywheel.
