Default a right result but a dilema

    just had a right result

the commandant of the camp i work had his bmw recovered to my workshop about 8 weeks ago as the gearbox oil cooler has gone

    its a 528i auto , full leather , all the toys on a "P" reg ( 1997 )
its still got mot but no tax ,

he just sold it to me for ......................£100

    new oil cooler £125

now got a second car for the grand sum of £225

    now the dilema is

do i repair the bmw and then whack it on fleebay and make a profit ( there going for between £1000 and £2000)

or do i run the bmw for a while and sell the3.0 cdti siggy ??????

For me its the beamer every time.
Superb drive and comfort and you can't get better at that price.
    And usually reliable too.

Well fuel economy would be my first issue so personally with the mileage I do I couldn't run a heavy auto 2.8 Beamer. Depends how much you like the siggy??

I'm guessing you'd get a good price on the Siggy now (remembering it won't depreciate anymore if you don't own it), rag the BMW round for a while then sell that still getting a good profit on £225 then buy something else, even another 3.0V6 CDTI.

I'd have to have a play with the BMW for a while. I had the 2.8 straight six in a sharknose shape auto, great fun, and the MPG wasn't that bad either, bearing in mind I was used to 17mpg from a Vauxhall Royale 2.6 coupe. The BM will frighten a lot of modern cars on a twisty road, and the 2.8 has plenty of power.
