    Default Blanking EGR Valve

    Hi

While at garage yesterday getting clutch sorted (CDTI 120) the guy was telling me about blanking the EGR valve...apparantly you can get some changes done to the ECU wiring so that it doesn't keep recording a fault (about 100 quid he was telling me)

Wondering if anyone on here has done this?...cheaper than a new EGR

120's can have egr issues, they do coke up on higher mileage cars but not to the extent of the 150's. Not sure there are blanking gaskets available for the 120.

How do you know if the egr valve needs sorting? My cdti 150 runs a bit lumpy on cold start and sometimes a bit of a lul before the turbo kicks in. Is that the egr valve coked up?

Best thing to do is take it off mate and have a look. Mine was really coked up and i cleaned it as best i could before putting it back. Might be best to get some new gaskets first though.
There is an excellent how to on here for cleaning it with plenty of pics.

Made my self a blanking plate at work from some .5 mm stainless steel on monday and its solved all my lumpy tickover and the slight hesitation around 2500 rev's also has more power low down
