Vec C Push Button Start?

Hi all,
just a bit of a technical-Electrical question?

I am wanting to install a push button start on my 04 Vec C. my question is does the tranponder unit around the ignition barrel read the coded key at the unit or through the ecu?
I was thinking along the lines of unlocking the doors jumping in placing keys in centre console and pushing the start button , to start the engine.

ive done it on my 40 series cruiser but, the vectra has the inbuilt immobiliser that i need to get around.

Any help would be appreciated.

The transponder pick-up, is a coil wrapped around the ignition key barrel.
It is linked to the CIM module by a two pin connector, so you could always put the coil into your centre console, and thread your key into it that way.
Then run two fine wires back up to the cim module.
