I just pulled the MOT infromation for the Vectra i have just bought. Part of the sale agreement was tha car will be issued with a 12 month MOT. So from checking the DVLA MOT site it has failed it's MOT on the 28th as follows...
Date of test:28/06/2010Certificate issue refused (Fail)
Odometer reading:62,804 MilesTest number:134559770180Test station name:BELMONT AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES LTDTest station number:V100866Test station telephone number:01417633906Test class:IVReason(s) for refusal to issue Certificate
Offside Front Obligatory mirror missing (8.1.1a)
Offside Front Coil spring fractured (2.4.C.1a)
Nearside Front Steering arm has relative movement at its fixings (2.2.B.1h)
Offside Front Steering arm has relative movement at its fixings (2.2.B.1h)
No Advisory Notice issued
I guess i am asking what I should do now....?
I knew about the mirror so that is fine. They are to replace this as part of the sale.
Are these faults very serious and if so should i now walk away (even though they should be getting fixed) for it to pass the MOT.
I was planing on calling the garage tomorrow and confirming that they are correcting the four issues listed. As it is listed in the sale contract that they will issue me with a 12 month MOT do you think they could withhold my deposit should the refuse to correct the defects?
On the spring point is it posible to replace just one spring or will they be doing them together (and should i insist they both get done)?
Can i ask for the recipts for the replacment parts as an assurance they were fixed? If so what should i be checking has been done... Mirror, spring, etc..?
Is there anything else i should be speaking to them about in terms of the car...?
Thanks guys for your help
