    Default new manifold fitted

had my new manifold fitted today, its an improvement on the revvs, its now 18-1900 revvs when turbo kicks. gotta get the 3rd injector done and looking to maybe only maybe change that, may have my hands on a new one for £30

what should i be looking for now to get the turbo kicking in a bit earlier?

gonna get a air filter and pollon filter tomorrow and do airbox mod

Trouble is they never have had any low down power, personally they are useless below 2000 rpm. dont think youll get any better than that.

A panel filter is your best bet, id never use a stupid cone filter, just an air box mod and panel filter would be the best option

It does depend on your engine, but on the 2.0T the K&N panel filter is an excellent choice.

I wonder if its because the turbo is big and has to spool up first ? ,which is why there is good power in the midrange

K&N panel filter & airbox mod also is your best bet mate. the cone filters just suck in the warm air from the engine & eventualy cause probs with the airmass sensor.
i too dont realy get boost till about 1700-1800 rpm. despite having new manifold, 3rd injector mod, airbox mod & full service. okay if your not on a steep hill. otherwise i just keep the revs up slightly i.e lower gear. i dont think its anygood on the DMF either to force the engine at low revs

No, no, no, no, no !!!!

It seems that alot of people have never driven a properly running 1.9 CDTi - there is very little lag - yes, the turbo adds alot of boost to the acceleration, but there is very good pull from virtually idle (well from 1100+).

Most of the time my car never goes over 2000rpm and it doesn't have to, I have no problem keeping in-front of traffic, I can pull out of junctions with ease and with haste.

If a 1.9 CDTi feels flat before 2k RPM and needs the revs kept high to get going then there is a problem - plain and simple. Even things like the seal on the EGR not been properly done (with poor gaskets, not tight enough etc - there are a few reports of stripped threads in the manifold when the EGR have been overtightened) this would cause an air leak in the inlet manifold and would lead to these symptoms.
